I’ve never done any kind of tag before but this seemed like a good one and I really don’t have any ideas for other posts, so here we go! For the 20 Questions Tag I was (sort of) nominated by the orang-utan librarian . Her blog is one of the best book blogs that I follow and you should definitely check it out if you’re into books. Also, thanks for the nomination!
1. How many books is too many books in a series ?
If the books are short i.e. 200 pages or less then I would prefer that there be as many books as there can be ( The Fear Street series, for example). But those books shouldn’t be related otherwise it would be too long of a stretch. If they’re regular, related books then a trilogy would be proper, I guess.
2. How do you feel about cliffhangers ?
If the next book in the series has already been released then I love them! Because I can buy the book as soon as I want. But if not umm… I still love them! I guess I like being kept in suspense.
3. Hardback or Paperback ?
PAPERBACK ALWAYS! I don’t like hardback books at all, unless it’s a coffee table book or an encyclopedia or something. Hardbacks are heavier to hold and I usually end up damaging the book jacket. Paperbacks are compact, easy to hold and even cheaper!
4. Favourite book ?
Wow! Can’t believe you’re asking this question. I mean, that’s like asking a mother to choose among her children. I’ve got lots of favourite books, how can I even choose!? Okay, so the last book that I read which became a favourite of mine was A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini.
5. Least favourite book ?
That’s another hard one. I can’t really think of any book that I didn’t like. I’m very picky with my books and if I don’t like a book, I usually don’t finish it. (Although, that rarely happens.)
6. Love triangles, yes or no ?
Probably not but to be honest the only book I read that had a love triangle was The Scorch Trials (Maze Runner series, book #2) by James Dashner and I didn’t like it. I don’t read much love stories anyway so a no it is.
7. The most recent book you just couldn’t finish ?
I got Star Wars : Imperial Handbook from the library because duh, it’s a book about Star Wars! I was really excited to read it but it was sooooo boring. Basically the book was a Wikipedia article about the Empire’s forces and I couldn’t read more than 2 pages. I know it’s not a novel with a story as such but the tag just calls for a book, right ?
8. A book that you’re currently reading ?
I’m actually in that middle stage where you’ve just finished reading a book and are about to start the next one. I finished reading Dan Brown’s Origin two days ago and I’m gonna read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson next.
9. Last book you recommended to someone ?
Origin again! I just recommended it to a friend yesterday.
10. Oldest book you’ve read ? (Publication Date)
Probably, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain. I don’t really read a lot of old books.
11. Newest book you’ve read ? (Publication Date)
Dairy of a Wimpy Kid : The Getaway. I still love reading this series and it’s the only book series that still makes me laugh out loud a lot of times while reading it!
12. Favourite Author ?
Aaaarrrghh! How can I even choose one ? That’s like asking a mother to…wait, I’ve already said that.
I’m gonna go with JK Rowling, Enid Blyton, RL Stine, Dan Brown, Robert Arthur, Khaled Hosseini and James Dashner. Not exactly one but well…
13. Buying books or borrowing books ?
I used to be the type of person who would only buy books. Back then, even if I read one from the library, I’d buy it just for my collection. As I grew up, the free space I had kept filling up with books and I started spending more on video games and food, so borrowing books from the library made more sense.
Nowadays, I usually borrow books but if it’s a favourite author or a really special book or if I get a good price, I buy it.
14. A book you dislike that everyone else seems to love?
To Kill a Mockingbird is a book that’s universally loved but it’s really not my taste so it got really boring for me and I couldn’t even get myself to finish it.
15. Bookmarks or dog-ears ?
BOOKMARKS ANYTIME! The very thought of folding a page in a book annoys me. Plus, I like collecting different kinds of bookmarks!
16. A book you can always reread ?
17. Can you read whilst hearing music ?
Absolutely not. If it’s instrumental, then maybe but if there are lyrics, nope. I like to read in complete silence. Even with the slightest sound of people talking, I start losing focus. But I really enjoy reading with ambient nature sounds. Like reading when it’s raining outside. That’s the best! ❤
18. One POV or multiple POV’s?
I prefer a single point of view but sometimes reading a book with multiple POVs is refreshing.
19. Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?
Depends on the book’s length. If it’s less than 200 pages and really interesting, I’ll definitely read it in one sitting. Any more than that, probably no.
20. One book you read because of the cover ?
As I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, I started my first book series when I was in fourth or fifth grade and it was because I really liked the cover! That book was The Mystery of the Disappearing Cat by Enid Blyton.
I used to pick the Goosebumps and Fear Street books based on their covers only! Just look at them. They’re so fascinating!
Thank you for reading! I’d love to hear what you thought of this down below!
